I am putting the finishing touches on our brand new jump rope PE curriculum! I am only days away from making this available to you. I’m also finishing up our detailed information on how to start and run a jump rope team. It has been quite a project, to say the least! Coach Tommy Hager and I met up at the end of July to film a jump rope PE curriculum that is both practical and informative. We had considered putting a book together on the subject, but realized that what has been missing is a video curriculum that not only explains how a jump rope unit should work, but shows what it should look like.
In order to make this work, we utilized some kindergarten through 5th grade students that we had never worked with before (though for the grading videos we did utilize some jumpers from Coach Hager’s team). We wanted the jump rope PE curriculum to not be an idealized version, but a series of practical lessons that you can use. The big question is always, how do you teach jump rope to Kindergarten students? We filmed an entire session (with real Kindergarten students) so that you can see how it looks. Keeping them on task and engaged is a challenge, but you will learn some practical steps to make this happen.
To help you out as much as possible, we have also included Lesson Plans that you can download and print out for each grade! That’s almost worth signing up for right there. Is it up to standards? We set down with the latest version of the NASPE standards for PE and show you what it should look like for your students to meet them in each grade level. This project has been years in the making and I’m looking forward to sharing our brand new jump rope PE curriculum with you soon!
